I run my own business, Blackberry Nutrition Limited. As well as seeing private clients at my clinic, I also advise businesses on employee health and stress management, and am a popular lecturer on food and health to a wide range of other audiences, including schools, local societies and specialist groups for particular health conditions.
But I have not always worked in nutrition! Before entering the field of nutrition, I worked in senior management in both the public and private sector, including the computer industry and engineering, for over 20 years. This has given me a very good grounding in how the corporate world works, and a good understanding of the stresses and strains that can be involved, as well as the human resource implications of ill health and less than optimum performance.
My professional organisation is the British Association of Nutritional Therapists and I am a Nutritional Therapy Council Registered Practitioner.
I regularly attend lectures and seminars to make sure my knowledge is completely up-to-date. I use various laboratories for the clinical tests which I use, and regularly attend training in the interpretation of these.
I greatly enjoy the opportunity my work gives me to guide people towards greater health and wellbeing, and have a particular interest in helping people who have complex health problems with multiple symptoms, people with all kinds of digestive problems, and those with chronic long-term conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, M.S. or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E.
My talks and lectures give me the chance to communicate to a wider audience the power of food to change their lives in many ways, from improving their day-to-day health or performance at work, to allowing them to achieve more in their lives and avoid future health problems and disease. I do this with the passion I feel about the subject!
