Personal Consultations

My Clinic : How a consultation works : Client support : Follow-up
Telephone consultations : Tests
: Charges : Other services : Referrals

People of all ages book in for individual consultations with me.  Some come just for a simple diet check, but most people come for help with one or more (sometimes many!) health problems.

My clinic

I work at the Cheltenham Holistic Health Centre, Camargue House, 32 Wellington Road in Cheltenham on Wednesday mornings, Fridays and some Saturdays.  The clinic keeps my diary and can advise on available slots if you call them on 01242 584140.
I also work at the Cotswold Health Centre, 8A George Street, Stroud on Monday afternoons. Please call 01453 767600 to ask about available appointments.

How a consultation works
Before your first visit, I will ask you to fill in a questionnaire giving details of your current diet and lifestyle, your health history and any current symptoms.  This isn’t essential, but you will probably get more out of your consultation if you do so, since it helps me to make an initial assessment of possible underlying causes.  The clinic will send you a questionnaire when you book in, with an s.a.e. for returning the questionnaire before your appointment.  (You can return it by post, by fax  to the Cheltenham clinic on 01242 256567, or by scanning the form and sending it to infoweb@blackberrynutrition.co.uk).  Otherwise, please bring with you a detailed diet diary for at least 3 days.

Our first meeting will last up to 1 hour and 10 minutes, which allows me time to get a good understanding of your health and your needs.  When we meet, we will go into your health and diet in more detail.  I will then tell you what I think may have caused or be contributing to your health problems, and how I think you should adjust your diet to improve or maintain your health.  Once we’ve agreed the content and pace of the dietary changes, I will give you a full information pack with written dietary recommendations.   Some supplements may also be recommended to provide an initial boost to your metabolism and support your body as you go through the process of dietary change.

About nutritional therapy explains in more detail how a nutritional therapist works to find the underlying causes of your health problems.

Client support
You are not on your own!  I provide free telephone support on most Wednesday evenings between 7.45 and 9.00 pm on 01453 755331.  You can also email me with quick questions at infoweb@blackberrynutrition.co.uk, although I can’t always reply immediately.  Where clients have acute problems, we will often agree extra support beyond that.  My aim is to help you achieve your goals!

Follow-up
We will discuss the number of follow-up consultations that are likely to be needed at our first meeting.  In general, it is useful to have a second consultation within 3 or 4 weeks of the first to have an early check on your progress.  Follow-ups are usually 40 minutes long, although some people book in for longer if they feel they need it, for example if they haven’t had a consultation for some time, or there is new medical information or a test result to discuss in detail.

Telephone consultations

Some people come to see me from quite far away.  In these cases, it is often possible for some follow-up consultations to be conducted over the telephone during my clinic time.  However, you must attend personally for a first consultation.

Tests
Sometimes I recommend one or more laboratory tests to help identify imbalances in your body which may be blocking the process of repair.  The tests are non-invasive, and many of them are simple tests that can be done at home, for example via a urine, saliva or stool test.  Clinical testing provides more information on the range of tests available.

Charges
The fee for a standard first consultation (including my preparation time) is £70. Follow-up appointments are charged at £40 (special offer until the end of February 2010, see home page for details or click here).  Longer consultations are charged pro rata.  Payment can be made by credit card, cash or cheque (made out please to Blackberry Nutrition Limited).  Any supplements or tests agreed are not included.  Please note that I charge a fee for missed appointments or cancellations less than 24 hours in advance.

We also provide gift vouchers at all times of the year, which are often used by happy customers to encourage their family or friends or colleagues to address their health issues.

Other services
As well as standard nutrition consultations, I also provide the following:

  • Supplement checks
  • Disease risk assessments
  • Anti-oxidant screening

Please call 01453 755331 for more information on any of these.

Referrals
I work closely with a number of other selected therapists, including a reflexologist, acupuncturist, osteopath, hypnotherapist and stress management adviser and colonic hydrotherapist.  I may suggest a treatment with a particular therapist if my experience tells me that it would be likely to support your healing process.
